Male and Female Brains, Aren’t Distinctly Different
Original article written by: Randy Dotinga
New research shows, that the male and female brain are not distinctly different. The article states that all brains (male and female) have a hodge-podge of different characteristics. These characteristics are categorized as male and female characteristics, but (for example) a male can have ¾ male characteristics and ¼ female characteristics. Daphna Joel (the leader of the study), MRI scanned 1,400 brains of both males and females, and found that there was no way she could tell which gender was which, when only looking at the brain. "This is the first study to look at the brain as a whole and ask whether brains are of two types. The answer is no," said study lead author Daphna Joel, a psychologist and professor at Tel-Aviv University in Israel.
This will impact people, trying to teach to one specific gender, and it is important because it might change the ways of an all one gender school/academy. This article does not directly affect me because I go to a Co-ed school.
I think this new research is great! I personally don’t like one gender facilities because I think that the student/people at the facility will have trouble communicating with the other gender later in life. Hopefully, this new study will get rid of all the one gender facilities. It will really change the way some people look at segregating genders. The headline grabbed my attention, because I have always thought that male and female brains were different. This article connects to what we're studying because the brain has lots of cells. When reading this article I learned that we can always learn new things. Even when we think we know everything about something, we can always learn more about it. I also learned that all brains are different, yet the same. They all have a strange mix of characteristics.

I really like yours! You had a lot of good info and I think you chose a really good topic
ReplyDeleteOn the Science Blog it said TWO paragraphs, one is the summary writing and the second is the reflect and critique. Also, you don't have the name of the article at the top or the author of the article you used for information? Other then that your project is very good, I think your topic is interesting.
ReplyDeleteRemem ber that it said two paragraphs. Otherwise its really interesting topic.
