The article Illegal Hits Play Big Role in Youth Ice Hockey Concussions focuses on how kids 12-18 are getting dangerous injuries while playing ice hockey. A reason why concussions are happening more often is because the players aren’t as aware of the rules of the game and how dangerous it is to hit from behind.  In the article they said “while the concussion rates in youth ice hockey are no greater than in other contact sports, more than 40 percent are caused by illegal hits, especially from behind.”  Youth ice hockey players are getting hurt during both games and practices.  Concussions during hockey practices are a higher risk than other youth sports.  Concussions cause headaches, blurriness and dizziness and if it were to happen players should be taken out of the game immediately.  To help make sure this happens more penalties should be enforced more and parents should be aware of the coach and make sure they know how serious concussions are to players.

I found this article and it grabbed my attention right away because I play on a U14 girls ice hockey team. Also another reason this article grabbed my attention is cell damage can happen and we are learning about cells in class.  I never realized how dangerous and frequent concussions can happen.  I learned to be more aware of how I play.  I also learned that if I ever have concussion what the symptoms are.   This article teaches kids to be careful when they hit people during games and practice.  I agree with the author because he give you facts and information about concussions and what can cause them.

  1. I was wondering if the conclusion paragraph was part of your connection paragraph. I like your connection paragraph too. Also I think your missing your quote and critique paragraph. Otherwise cool topic and sentence structure.

  2. I like your topic! I also thought your article was great. Could you add punctuation to your first sentence with the article's title because it is a little confusing at first?
